Sea Shepherd
Sea Shepherd is an internationatl non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Their mission is to end for example the whaling industry and other thing which harm the ecosystem and species. Sea Shepherd Conservation
Society was formally incorporated in the United Sates in 1981 in the state of Oregon. Previous, to this the idea of Sea Shepherd was formed when Captain Paul Watson founded the Earth Force Society in 1977. A TV show telling about the work of Sea Shepherd was first showed in 2008. It was named Whale Wars. It has been going in many channels like Discovery Channel. The show was a big success. Today the fleet includes 4 vessels which are:
-M/Y Stewe Irwin
-M/Y Ady Gil (In the picture/Japanese whaling ship crashed with Ady Gil which sank)
-R/V Farley Mowat
-Sirean/Yoshka (The former U.S patrol boat)
There has been lots of discussion about who is right and wrong in this "war". Japanese whale "research" boats say that they are just taking info from whales, Sea Shepherd thinks that they are just selling whale meat! They say that they are going to stop the whaling industry. It will bee interesting to see how?!... More info about Sea Shepherd can be found in Wikipedia and their own website.

F1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
The second race of F1 season 2010 was held in Australia, Melbourne. If someone criticized that the first race was boring, you could not say the same from Australian Grand Prix. Altogether seven drivers were out from the race. Jenson Button was the first one to put dry weather tyres and first it looked like it was a big mistake, but in the end he won the race! Sebastian Vettel was leading the race for a long time, but then he made a mistake and was out from the race. There was lots of action during the race and for example Mark Webber crashed Lewis Hamilton on the second last lap. Next race is already next weekend in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
Results:
1. Jenson Button
2. Robert Kubica
3. Felipe Massa
4. Fernando Alonso

F1
The Formula 1 season started last weekend with the first race in Bahrain (Sakhir circuit). This year many of the rules have
changed which led to a discussion about the rationality of the rules. The most significant rule is that the cars will not fuel during the race. This makes the cars look more stupid than before. The over 200liter tank looks huge combined with a 3meter wheelbase! This year 3 new teams "landed" F1. The teams are Virgin, Lotus, and Hispania Racing Team (HRT). Lotus made a "comeback" after being many years out from F1. The new teams were far from the top teams. This led to a discussion about the safety of F1. The new cars are many seconds slower than the others and you could say that they were racing in a different race. We will see later can the new teams develop their cars faster. Ferrari and Red Bull are the best teams right now and Mercedes GP+ Mclaren are coming a little behind. We will see what the new teams and the rules will bring with them. The next race is in Australia, Melbourne, which results and events my next blog will tell about!

Finland´s icehockey
The long-awaited olympic games are now over and it´s time to make a conclusion of the icehockey games. This time there was certainly playing the best players of every country. In the coming years this might not be possible, because NHL is planning to continue their own games also during World Championship and Olympic games. That means that the best players are playing in NHL during important international games. Good player still come from leagues like KHL, Elitserien, SM-league etc... Finland started it games well by winning Belarus and Germany. Then something happened to the team during Sweden game. The game went very poorly. Finland´s headcoach Jukka Jalonen however managed to get the missing "team spirit" back and Finland won Czech Republic 2-0 in the semi-finals. After that nobody knows what happened to Finland in the odd game against USA. Finland lost 6-1 and the downward spiral started already after 2 minutes, when Miikka Kiprusoff passed straight to an USA player. After 12 minutes Finland was losing 6-0. You could sense that the team really wanted to win the bronze from Slovakia. It looked like there was different team in the ice compared to the USA game. You can really say that Finland won a bronze. After the disappointment people started to realize that bronze is not bad at all. Also Finnish women brought bronze home from Vancouver. It is very interesting to see who of the veteran players will continue playing at the next tournaments. Right now old players are ending their career and new talents are coming to the team. We will see what kind of team Jukka and the other coaches will choose to the World Championship games. Will new talents take the control of the team.We will see it soon...
